need help have insomnia :(

Posted by billcot on November 29, 2008 at 04:26:14:

I suffer from insomnia. I went for an entire week, going to sleep, about 1am or so, consistantly, which was ideal. one night however, it slowly got off track, and a little more offtrack the next days :( I am fighting today to correct my sleep for the long term, the goal being, waking at at 9am or 10am. i need techniques for correcting my sleep when it is off. when i do sleep restriction, i find, that with hard work, i can make it to my desired cut off time, but if i do that, its much more difficult for me to get to sleep. and thats awful lot of pain and work to only to continue not being able to sleep, where as if i go to sleep at an earlier time, i will have much easier time getting to sleep, though, i will have to work more the next few days adjusting, which is somewhat of a pain, as I not only would like to seek work, but i have to. i read one post mentioning a CBT i am not sure what that stands for. I choose not to go to a sleep specialist because of anxiety issues, and the difficulty of travel, and the hassle of having to drive so far just to see one because of my HMO. I also realize, that if i were to make a sleep specialist appointment, i could not see them at the frequency needed to correct my sleep, to get advice, and all that, if say, close to a week, it gets off track, i wont have them there because usually the appointments tend to be a couple weeks a part (and the distance is rough)
