Wow, I can really relate to what you said about never getting sucked into a good movie because you are aware of the acting. I can rarely enjoy movies because I am constantly analyzing the actors and the director. I am always keenly aware of the acting. As a result, I am rarely able to immerse and lose myself completely in a movie. I've come to notice that people who can immerse themselves in a movie seem to enjoy the experience so much more without the damper of over-analyzing that I do.
This is an interesting trait that I've never seen anyone put into words before. And, to think that I thought I was the only one who watched movies this way...
Think about this. A person with the inability to become absorbed in a movie is a person who can't "let go." And, we hear this same term applied to insomniacs. They just can't "let go." They can't "let go" of their day, their frustrations, their anxieties, their worries and their thoughts.
There may be a connection here. People who have trouble letting go in general may also have trouble letting go when it's time for sleep due to an overactive, ruminating and hyper-aroused mind.
