Hey, just thought I would add my experience to this since I think it's kind of interesting after reading this post.. I am in my mid 40's and have 3 children. When my second child was an infant my oldest was 18 months old and I was stressed beyond belief. Well, I developed Irritable Bowel Syndrome and it was awful. I couldn't go out to dinner without worrying that I wasn't going to feel well cause I usually didn't after I ate. I had all sorts of tests run cause I just didn't believe that stress could cause these terrible stomach problems and thought I had something awful wrong with me. The tests revealed nothing so they came up with the diagnosis of IBS. After about 6 months it magically went away and I was fine.

Fast forward about 12 years, I had a few stressful things going on all at once except this time my stomach was fine but I developed terrible insomnia. I have heard how stress affects people differently but thought it was weird that it could affect the same person differently at different points in their life. My sleeping is SOOO much better now but still suffer from time to time.
