To take extra meds or not?

Hi - had been doing pretty good but last night decided I was just going to take my amitriptyline and nothing else and only got a couple hours of sleep and feel awful - now - tonight I will take either Lunesta or Ativan - I have been off Ativan for quite a while and just taking 1/2 of a 3 mg of Lunesta - thought I was really making progress - I don't like feeling like I do today so I suppose I will either take Lunesta or Ativan - out of the two don't know which one I should take - my psych dr told me my goal should be to get off the Lunesta - so I tried it last night and failed.

Anyway, what would any of you do - which is harder or worse to get off of - Lunesta or Ativan - see - if I could only sleep with just the amitriptyline but one bad night sets me in a dithy - I did walk about 45 mins today and instead of staying home obsessing about how awful I felt I did do some yardwork too since it was a pretty day.

My problem is just trying to get out of my own way and think about other things - anyway, just down somewhat over this - I want to just be on amitriptyline like I used to be 2 years ago but just cannot seem to be successful at it - maybe because I'm 65 my melatonin just doesn't work like younger people - maybe it is just my getting older who knows - my husband has trouble too - he is 69 - anyway - just felt like venting. Thanks for listening.

I get more help from these boards that from counselors or doctors - guess it's because we all have been in the same situation.
