lulubelle, I love the suggestion of folding and unfolding laundry. I laughed out loud when I read that. It's so tedious (but busy), I could see it driving insomnia away.

katt, I agree that the loneliness is the hard part. I'm glad that your experience has passed. There is a wonderful nighttime phone line in my city that I'll often call to pass the time. They're happy to listen and chat as long as it's not busy.

I had a wonderful first last night. I'm experimenting with going off my Zopiclone on alternating nights. Last night I was ready to try without the Zopiclone...and, I fell asleep around 11:30PM and slept until 4AM!! This has never happened in the 3 years I've had insomnia. It's clear to me that I'm sleeping, because I dream, and then wake up, dream, and wake up. Instead of moving from bed to couch to bed. This gives me so much hope.
