Hmmm...I've tried to do and not do various things over the last 20+ years of insomnia. I know now that nothing I do is worth anything in the morning (working, reading, even thinking out problems/making plans) and even makes things worse. I also have learned that I drift kind of asleep and these "sleep snacks" add up sometimes to make me more rested. So I relax, do the head to toe muscle relaxing thing, breathe, think about the plots/storylines of the movies and tv shows I have recently watched...and remind myself that while I may operate dangerously the next day without sleep, the world will not end.
