Hi wolverine. Im same as you - except not the rash, i have sexual side effects, and i can tell you all about switching SSRIs. I have been from citalopram to escitalopram (Lexapro) to fluvoxamine (Luvox), to duloxetine, to moclobemide, and now finally am starting Zoloft (sertraline) next week!!!! I will let you know how i get on with the Zoloft, but depending on how i am feeling during the wash out period, i may try and stay off for a while before starting the Zoloft. I've almost forgotten what it feels like to be me after all these medication changes. When you switch to another SSRI, you need to taper the dose of the first one, then have a wash out period (the amount of days depends on the half-life of the drug), then you taper onto your new drug (Zoloft). From my initial experience going onto Lexapro, i had same as you (maintenance insomnia, feeling spaced out and a bit shaky and nauseous). when i switched SSRIs it wasnt like starting from scratch again im glad to say, you might feel emotional or anxious for the days during the wash out and tapering off. Thats all that happened to me, i guess everyone is different. The new drug will also probably kick in quicker than Lexapro originally took, and you will be sleeping again quicker. I found the best SSRI for sleep so far has been Luvox. It is AMAZING! I would love to be back on it, but i cant because of the sexual side effects :( goodluck wolverine and write again in you need to :D
