Katt, I'm sorry to hear about what you've been through and how much stress you're experiencing. I really sympathize. Can I share two things with you that have helped bring my adrenaline levels down, and even helped me fall asleep/sleep deeper with my medication? They may not help you, but they might be worth a try. One is sniffing lavender essential oil directly from the bottle, and putting a few drops on the back of my pillow. As soon as I feel the adrenaline running, I lie down, sniff from the bottle, and do 5 or 10 minutes of deep breathing. (I know, it sounds very Blue Velvet). The last 3 weeks have been over the top stressful, so I've been doing that pretty well every day. It mellows me out. I'm also taking a herbal adaptogen forumula called AdrenaSense every second day. (See http://www.healthycupboard.ca/product_sheets/AdrenaSensePIsheet.pdf)
I don't mean to promote this product specifically; you could also try the active ingredients separately: rhodiola rosea and ashwagandha in particular. This combination of adaptogens has brought me down in just a couple of days. I've used it for the past several years.(If you do go with this product, start at the smallest dose to see what kind of effect it has in combination with your other medications).
