No one asks to have insomnia. It's unwelcome. It would be strange not to resentful or discouraged or demoralized about having it. But we can do more than just resist it or resent it. We can also see it as an opportunity to learn about ourselves. Our bodies and minds are behaving this way for a reason. They're telling us something. We can fight with ourselves, or we can work with outselves to try to manage the insomnia, and create different attitudes and circumstances in our lives. Adversity is not fun, but it does create an opportunity for growth and a better relationship with ourselves.
