Hi lullabelle

It's hard to make suggestions for other people, but let me just tell you what I do.

I wake up every morning at 6:30 because we've got to get the kids ready for school. So
wake-up time is sorta non-negotiable. Now for bedtime, I've found that I start getting
sleeping at around 11:00 pm. If I went to bed then and immediately went to sleep, I'd be
getting 7 hours sleep max....but this is rare. As it is, I usually don't turn the lights off
until 11:30 or 12:00. For me, 6 hours of sleep works just fine. Of course this wasn't the
case back when i was sleep deprived, as I would have killed to get 10-12 hours of sleep to
play catch-up. But not being sleep-deprived, 6 hours or so, though probably not optimal,
is just fine. I feel no ill-effects at all the next day from that. (sleep quality matters too,
however.)

So saying all that, I sorta impose a bit of a self-induced sleep restriction on myself. I
certainly do not do it on purpose, and some nights if I'm extra tired or sleepy I might crawl
in bed earlier. Likewise I occasionally stay up later if I'm not sleepy. So my point is that I
just do what I feel like doing. I listen to my body. I never, ever, "try" anything. To me,
"trying" stuff is just poison to my sleep. I just do what I feel like doing.....and if it doesn't
work, I just do the same thing the next night and the next and the next. There is never
anything to think about, ponder, or worry about this away. there is no more
experimentation to work or not work. I just have simply ended that and approach sleep
like it should be approached. If I don't sleep, I don't sleep.....but the thing is, I believe by
approaching sleep in the right way -- the natural way -- I am giving myself the best
chance to sleep naturally and normally. And that's all I can really do. Good luck, Tom
