Generally, I have slept well thoughout my life. Even when my daughter became so sick, my sleep wasn't impacted until several months had passed. The only other long term sleep problem was related to hormones as I entered my early 40s.
I totally agree about the grief-as I have said, my preconceived notion was that grief meant sobbing and being hysterical. For me, it is a very quiet experience, and like you, has brought up so many other issues/losses. It's there, and I'm just not sure what to do with it.
I realized it was time to see a professional about this. Last year, as my Mom was dying, I did go to counseling, but all I talked about was my sleep, so I didn't make much progress in the grief arena.
I am carving out things to look forward to each day, and it is helpful to know that the medication is there should I decide that's the way I want to go.
