Onset, onset, onset! Yeah, onset! That's the team I play for.

My sleep onset pattern matches yours. (I think we compared notes before and discovered this). It's all or nothing. Either I fall asleep within 15-30 minutes without meds and sleep the whole night until light creeps in (I have a dark room with blackout shades, but I'm very sensitive to increasing dawn light), or I'm awake for 8 hours, until that wonderful, dreamy hour of 5AM. Then I can get 90 minutes. Why so extreme I wonder?

Like you, if I fall asleep, I'm more likely to get sleep on the back end than the front. And during acute phases, have gone through days of zero sleep, where I've been wired no matter how exhausted I've been or how much exercise I've gotten. (7 nights was my longest).

With a small dose of my Z drug, I have as close to a normal night of sleep as possible. It sure beats lying awake til 5AM (or pacing my apartment), night after night!
