I deny that I have any bedtime anxiety. Either this means I do have it and I'm in complete denial, or I'm correct that I don't and something else is causing my all-night arousal. I vote for the latter, especially on days when I've run myself down and have no energy left for bedtime anxiety. I really associate bed and bedtime with that cozy, snuggly, ahhhh feeling, and find it bizarre whenever anyone suggests to me that I'm awake all night because I've associated bedtime with insomnia. I think my arousal is tied to general unhappiness during all my 18+ waking hours (plenty of time to generate tension), unresolved conflicts with myself, an unclear direction in life, a lack of love and support, no certainty about where I'm going to be living or how I'll be earning a living, etc. You know, that big, I haven't a bloody clue where I am or going in life feeling. All of that weighs on me far, far more than any transient bedtime anxiety I might feel.
