I've got a great stress-meter, my wife. When I get too wrapped up in myself she lets me
know pretty quickly. Eg "You need to pay me/us/our relationship more attention."I've been sleeping well for a while. Then, last week I finally finished up a big book project
(I work as a publisher). I've been tinkering away on for 6 months and when you get to the
end you're faced with a bunch of problems -- ie all the things you put off doing earlier
because they were a problem. I didn't feel stressed by it -- but I obviously was because I
had three consecutive nights of bad sleep, culminating the day i finished the book, after
which I slept like a baby.My techniques for dealing with stress are having a relaxed schedule. Knowing I can sleep
in if i want helps. Going to bed early and reading a book for a couple of hours before
trying to sleep helps. Basically, I try to avoid any activities i find stressful. That can be
socializing, staying up late, drinking too much, over-exercising, eating late. I lead a pretty
boring life!
