lulubelle,

I too was a bit taken back by my sleep dr.'s recommendation for SR but willing to give it a shot. I guess the idea behind it is to cause such sleep deprivation and exhaustion, the body will eventually sleep. My first night (Sunday) I slept 10:00 - 2:00. Night before last I went to bed when I was tired (like I was told to do) at 10:00 and managed to sleep 6 hours until 4:00 with a few brief awakenings and this was great BUT last night was a disaster. Could not get to sleep until 1:00. Slept exactly one hour and tried to go back to sleep but could not. Stayed awake rest of night. I have no idea why. I was a little nervous and aprehensive about going to sleep last night but not overly so. I will give this a shot for a few more nights or until the end of the week and see. My sleep dr. said that if this didn't work she would restrict my sleep further and make my wake even earlier (don't like that idea at all) OR try another form of SR, possibly going the 12:00 - 6:00 route as in Dr. Jacobs book. Anyway, I will see what happens in the next couple of nights and keep you posted.
