Hi sleepless-
I'm sorry you are struggling, I can really relate. How long have you been giving SR a go?
I am considering going back to my sleep MD-but she charges $250 per hour and I'm not sure I would get much out of it.
At any rate-I know that I get depressed-and that may be a huge driver of my insomnia. Remeron took care of my sleep hands down, but I wanted to test the waters med free. I get the whole chicken and egg routine-though given what I have been through, depression is certainly a strong possiblity (along with hormones)
My issue with SR is that it is a cookie cutter treatment-it works well for most people, so it is the front line treatment now. Unfortunately when it doesn't work, we're kind of left out in the cold by the professionals. At this point, I am backing off on the SR-going to bed at the same time, but leaving the wake up time open (still restricting to around 7 hours in bed). I know this is very contrary to conventional wisdom, but I notice when I wake up in the middle of the night, and just turn off my alarm, I can fall asleep much easier.
We shall see...thanks for the information-please do keep us posted.
