Not sleeping, please help!

Posted by mike on September 01, 2009 at 03:30:27:

I work shifts (have to not by choice) but I cant sleep during the day.
Last night I was on nights, got home 8.30 but now im so tired, but when I try to sleep I feel like my heart is pounding and palpitations!
So I get up and now no heart pounding or palpitations but extreme tirdness.
This really can't go on but I need my job.

When I work day shifts I struggle to sleep also, sometimes only 2 hours, lying awake worrying about not sleeping. You can imagine how I am at work next day.
Is this normal?
Been working shifts for ages so don't see why my sleep has deteriorated to this extent.
Been to doctors but he wasn't interested.

Something really has to be done but im just not sure what.
The only thing I can think of is sleeping tablets but as I say, Doc won't let me have any!

Any advice would be most appreciated.
