Sorry to hear the Remeron is not working. Ironically, where Remeron worked well for me, Effexor was horrible, I could not sleep on that stuff.
At any rate, yes, I do remember clearly not feeling sleepy in spite of the fact I hadn't slept. It does pass, and now I find I'm sleepy like most other folks. I agree that it is probably your stress hormones in overdrive, or some other chemical deal fueled by imbalances for whatever reason (coming off the Effexor, etc)
Hang in there, it does get better. I know how discouraging it can be. At my worst, about all I could do was just repeat, this too shall pass...and it will. Hang in there.
