I WANT IT BACK

You will get it back, insomniac6622, but, it will take a bit of time and it might be helpful for you to look at insomnia in positive terms rather than negative terms. What the heck is positive about the experience you and I are going through? Well, we've learned that...for us...medication is not the answer. This simplifies matters. Secondly, we are made aware of how strong we are. We may not like or prefer it, but functioning when fatigued builds a certain amount of mental toughness. Third, we learn that we MUST learn how to control our thoughts and feelings or else we will make our insomnia worse. Do you know what a powerful lesson this is? In that sense, insomnia is our Guru. By learning to cope with it, we have the opportunity to become new and stronger people.

Don't know if this method of "reframing" insomnia is helpful to you, but, it is what keeps me going. As they say in the song..."Whatever helps you through the night"

And, yes, I can relate to everything you wrote. I was seduced by advertising as well. I, for one, am opposed to allowing pharmaceutical companies sell powerful and mind-altering medications on TV as if they were selling deodorant and I think many physicians agree. Anti-depressants and sleep inducing drugs alter our brain chemistry and should not be used casually.

But, don't get me started!
