I've tried to Google for information about this question, but can't find an answer.
Does anyone know approximately how long it takes for our brains to "return to normal" after we have been taking sleeping meds for an extended period of time?
Days? Weeks? Months? Please don't tell me years!
I'm assuming 5-6 weeks because that's how long it takes most anti-depressants to kick in, but I'm only guessing.
I'm also wondering if we should refrain from taking any meds during that period of time, or is "every once in a while" ok? How about Valerian and Anti-histamines? I wonder if these affect the same brain receptors as the pharmaceutical products. Should we avoid EVERYTHING if we want to heal our brains?
Sigh. I bore myself. I wish I could stop my mind from thinking thinking thinking about this problem. For the rest of the day, I shall try to concern myself with other things.
However, I know me, and I shall, without a doubt, keep returning to the Forum to see if anyone has replied to me. Is this Forum good or bad? Both, I think. It definitely feeds my obsession, but, on the other hand, it is the only place I can go to discuss my difficulties with people who understand. I have learned to refrain from talking about it to my friends and family. That is not helpful at all. Also, I love the positive feed back, inspiring messages and helpful suggestions I get on this Forum. It is also a distraction, of sorts. Maybe not a healthy one, but a distraction, nonetheless.
