Your GP should be able to refer you to a sleep clinic near you. In the meantime, it would be best to avoid alcohol in the evening, and try the simple solutions first. Sleeping on your side and elevating the head of the bed may solve your problem http://priory.com/med/jimsleep.htm. You'll need to check your medications for possible effects on apnea (quite a few medications make apnea worse).
