I have read the er patient information leaflet and it does say to avoid alcoholic drinks and I know I really shouldn't and the funny thing is, (believe it or not) I am/was a teetotaler unless I have insomnia. As soon as the insomnia goes, the booze doesn't get touched, I only drink it because it quietens down my brain. I never drink socially or even at Christmas. I prefer tea and coffee. I hate to admit it, but I get so desperate to sleep, and for me I crave a break from the incessant moaning and whining that is the voice in my head or if it's not doing that its demanding chocolate, and I get in a very negative mind set if I have to put up with me all night. I did overdose once accidentally because I had no idea that Citalopram and Nytol were a bad idea. Heck, Citalopram was a bad idea for me. My memory went all patchy, and I forgot I had taken a Nytol and was still awake so took another Nytol and er took more. My husband flushed the lot down the loo when he was alerted to me falling out of bed or whatever happened to wake him. I am much more sensible now and never take more than 37mg of Seroquel and 2 shots of Sambucca or something. I am going to make an appointment with P doc to discuss this with him. Maybe he can change my meds. He will probably not be happy with me because I had been making such good progress and now this! I am also considering stopping ALL medications including alcohol, but I will need some time off work for that. I couldn't hold my job down (I keep making mistakes all the time as it is) whilst dealing with insomnia minus medications.
