Thanks for the advice. I'm also planning to try meditation and an increased amount of exercise to tire me out. I've heard of sleep restriction, is this effective for anxiety induced insomnia?

The pain I experienced was like cramping with tenderness, despite telling the consultant I was anxious and had a BP of 170/120 and pulse of 120 she didn't seem to consider anxiety and gave me morphine. I have a doctors appointment next week where I will ask for a thyroid test.

As far as medication goes I've tried otc medications such as diphenhydramine without success. I do take diazepam, GHB and codeine prn for social anxiety but don't want to rely on meds for sleep, mirtazapine had no apparant anxiolytic effect last time I tried it. Propranolol doesn't seem to do anything for the anxiety either.

I think recent events may be stressing me out more than I first realised!
