electracat,

I know exactly what you are feeling. First, your mind is not trying to sabotage your life, it's trying desperately to help you, to keep you out of danger. Your mind is constantly coming back to worrying about your anxiety level because it senses danger in the high anxiety. The thing you have to do is face the thoughts head on. Feel the anxiety, let it flow through you. DO NOT fight it and try to keep the thoughts out. That's what keeps the vicious cycle going. Work on letting your mind think whatever it wants without fighting it. That's the way to true freedom from this painful condition.

Another very simple thing that's helped me is just reminding myself that its 'me'. I don't need to be frightened of myself. Think back to a time when you were free and never focused on your thoughts. Also, always love yourself and tell yourself that you deserve to be happy and at peace.

As far as the Lexapro goes, I'm on it and doing great so don't rule it out as an option.

Good luck,
Jim
