follow up -- well I didn't exactly follow the book's instructions and after a second discussion with a MD took 1/2 an Imovane for two nights as I was wrecked. Seemed to reset my body clock nicely. But also followed the book for 1) hot bath 2) glass of milk 3) not staying in bed and getting worked up about not sleeping. One bad night in five without pills is pretty good. Anxiety level way down about my insomnia.
I'm not really a chronic insomniac but when I get afflicted its big time -- zero sleep for days is possible.
I believe the book is a help, particularly for long periods of insomnia where short term use of meds doesn't work. Like this forum reading the book is something of a relief -- letting you know that you are not alone in the struggle.
