Thanks all for your reply. I have ordered that two books everyone recommended and will start to read them when I get them.
For anyone who had experience with Ambien, please share with me your experience when cutting it down. I have trouble to stop it now. I have been on it for 7 weeks. I started with 10mg, later cut down to 5mg and 2.5mg. I was on 2.5mg Ambien and 25mg Amiptriptyline for a while. Last week, while I was trying to cut down Amipltriptyline, insomnia came back, I was afraid and returned to 5mg Ambien and 20mg Amiptriptyline. After discussing with my doctor who said Ambien was additive, I tried hard to cut Ambien, with no success. Some nights, 2.5mg didn't work, then I ended up 5mg Ambien, just on and off. How could I fall into sleep myself? After being on Ambien for such long weeks, my body forgot how to sleep anymore. If I increase Amiptriptyline dose, it made me more drowsy, but I still cannot fall into sleep. But Amiptriptyline does make me sleep longer.
I am not confident if I can wean off Ambien successfully. I have been trying so hard in the past weeks, I always ended up taking Ambien after a few hours sleepless in bed. Thanks!
Elaine
