I had the same experience with Ambien. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I read two books "Desperately Seeking Snoozin" and "Say Goodnight to Insomnia" and then I began to taper down. Keep cutting your dose every 3 to 4 days. Understand that you have a mental and physical addiction and you will go through some re-bound insomnia. Through these books you will start to understand your insomnia and ways to deal with it or cure it. Both books recommend being drug free and express the difference between drug-induced and natural sleep. You can do this but isn't easy and you will need support from family and friends. Be prepared for a few bad nights. They won't kill you and you will feel much better when the Ambien is out of your system and out of your life. You can find these books at your local bookstore or amazon.com or the sleepmall on this sight. They are inexpensive and effective. It takes a great deal of strength and determination but the outcome is worth the suffering. Keep posting messages on this sight to get support from others who deal with the same trouble and have beat the monster. God Bless You. You can do it.
