There could be a danger in any medication that you decide to take regularly without consulting your doctor.
I have a friend that took advil constantly, only 500 mg a day for severe arthritis, for 2 yrs. He now has veins that pop constantly. If he had consulted his doctor, he could have gotten a script for something that would not have such a horrible side effect.
You just don't know until your doctor, who has your history, gets to review it.
Something like this can usually be handled in a phone call. Give them a call, and see what they say. Also, unexplained sleeplessness may be the result of a hidden medical problem, so they may have justification to see you. If you have insurance, it's only a copay. If you don't it's only your life.
