Hi,

Maybe your medication helped you "pull your life together",ie exercise, have a regular bedtime etc
Sometimes depression causes insomnia, it could be the only sign of a depression, in that case an antidepressant should help. I think it can actually take more than 2 months to get full effect from the drug. In my case (seroxat) I saw an improvment after 2 months but it took longer before I felt like my old self. On the other hand if the insomnia is not caused by a depression, antidepressants may not be the answer. Thirdly, people respond differently to drugs, what has helped your friend may not help you!

I should try it a bit longer if I were you!
