Hi Meg,
I was told that insomnia was almost always a symptom of an underlying problem like depression or other anxiety disorder. In my case I couldn't sleep because I kept thinking about things over and over and over again, like TV commercial songs, numbers, words, wondering if I shut off the water in the backyard, if all the light switches in the house were off etc. THen I became very depressed that I no longer had a social life to speak of, and then I couldn't sleep.
