Posted by elaine on April 14, 2000 at 16:45:46:I developed insomnia after got severe tinnitus (rings in my head/ear). I have been taking Amitriptyline 25mg and Ambien 5mg for over one month to battle insomnia. I find I have gained 5 pounds with only 1 month of medicine. I am a small frame person and had hard time to gain any weight in the past. This type of weigh gaining rate made me scared. Does anyone experience weigh gain from Amitriptyline drug (used for insomnia for my case)? I heard some people gain 40 pounds! Also, I read somewhere saying Ambien is supposedly for short term use. I find myself is additive to Ambien now. I am wondering if there is any damage to the body if I use it for long time. Thanks for help!
