Depression like insomnia comes in many shades and flavors. I was not clinically depressed. My problem manifested itself as fatigue. If you asked me if I was depressed, I would say no. But like you I had some symptoms of depression and they would fluctuate. Then I started having problems sleeping. So for me I would say the depression started first.
