The Ambien shouldn't be causing your weight gain.
It's most likeley the amitriptilyne. In which case you should talk to your doctor about it, maybe he can switch you to another med.
About the long term affects of Ambien use, I'll keep you posted! So far so good. No limbs falling off, hallucinations etc. Actually I haven't experienced any really bad affects. The only thing I noticed is that once in a while I'll forget little things like the name of a movie that I wanted to see a couple of months ago, or the name of the author of a book that I read last year..things like that. I don't know if thats related to the ambien or just mental stress.
I'm very sorry to hear you're addicted to the ambien though. You should try your hardest to either reduce your use of it or cut back on the dosage. Nows the best time since you havent been taking it so long. Believe me, you'll regret it later if you dont!
