People misuderstand the ADA. People think that it means that an employer must hire someone or cannot fire someone with a diability. Not true. The law simply says that as long as a person can substantially do their job, the employer must make a reasonable accomodation in dealing with their disability. To explain what is reasonable would take pages and pagers, but basically it would be different for different people and employers. For example, what is reasonable for a very large employer might not be reasonable for a small employer. NOLO progress is the largest self-help legal publisher in the United States. Their web site is www.NOLO.COM. They are located in Oakland, California. They should have a book on ADA so you can educate yourself. Depending on your medical condition, you might, in fact, be entitled to this reasonable accomodation, but before you ask for it, you might want to educate yourself by reading a book or two. Also, remember that the Department of Labor, a Federal agency, enforces the law. Check for web site or check the phone book under Federal agencies. Good luck and god bless.
