Trazodone Withdrawal symptoms

Posted by Tatiana on June 04, 2000 at 21:18:12:

Hello, I'm new here and hope someone could help me. For more than two years I've been suffering from insomnia. (due to a psychological trauma).
My doctor prescribed Trazodone. For about a year I've been taken one 50 mg tablet per night. It really helped me fall asleep and I felt much better after getting sufficient amount of rest. Recently my life is somewhat normalized and I decided to stop taking the medication. However, I'm experiencing very unpleasant withdrawal effects. I cannot fall asleep and am more irritable and restless. I don't know which plays a bigger role -- my chemical addiction to Trazodone or my psychological dependence on it. I would really appreciate your feedback and suggestions on how to stop being dependent on this medication. After all the doseage I was taking was only 50 mg. (the lowest possible).

Best Regards,
Tatiana
