Trazadone is an antidepressent with a side effect of feeling drowsey. It is commonly prescribed for the side effect. The antidepressant component works nevertheless. When used as an antidepressant, it is often prescribed at a higher dose. This was information given to me by my MD. You can easily check it out by asking the pharmacist for the information on the medication. It should be included when dispensing any medication. I use Walgreens and it is always a part of the receipt. An antidepressant obviously does not create depression.
Always discuss any negative symptom of taking a medication or stopping a medication with your MD.
