Awakening during the night; awakening too early in the morning.

Posted by Betty Sue on July 20, 2000 at 19:20:23:

Is there a difference between awakening during the night and awakening too early in the morning? Some people seem to think that depression has something to do with these problems. Is depression the cause of the first problem or the second problem or both, and why? What is the scientific basis to this hypothesis? Does it have something to do with a lack of serotonin in the brain or what? Thank you.
