i have taken valium for sleep and I don't think it works---its just a mild anxiety drug---also addicting, but does not produce sleep. I guess I'm addicted to Xanax because I have been taking a .50 every night to sleep for three years. it works beautifully and as long as you hae your blodd checked once a year or so for liver problems, i don't see the harm in using it. It is a short acting medication, lasting 6 to 7 hours and although I don't need it if I take a nap during the day, it does produce a good nights sleep without after affects. I don't believe a drug like this is any more harmful then a lot of medications other people must take for other conditions, and as we all know, not sleeping is terrible. If there is addiction, so what if it does what its suppose to.
