You sould like you have an anxiety disorder and if you are going to a family doctor, he may not be seeing the whole picture accurately if he is not prescribing the benzodiazepines (ativan, valium, halcion, etc.). I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist for what seems to be an anxiety disorder/phobia mix. Hypnotics such as ativan, which is a benzodiazepine that has been around the block a few times and is widely used for persons with your symptoms. Your dosage if presently using might not be high enough. I have used Ativan for muscle spasm up to 8 mgs daily. Surely there is a doctor out there who could have more understanding of your situation. And if money is a problem, see your local Community Mental Health Center (CMHC). Sometimes you can get decent rate and a listening ear from a psychiatrist who will be much more likely to accurately treat you than a family doc. Hope this has been helpful. I really believe you need some *good* medical attention on this matter. It is causing too much disruption in your life. You have my best wishes for deep sleep and calm from the anxiety.
