meditation

Posted by Ann on October 24, 2000 at 06:04:29:

Does anyone else experience severe yawning episodes and teary eyes when attempting to meditate? I tried meditation last night when I couldn't sleep. It is hard to do when I can't stop yawning.

I went to bed early last night, 9:30 p.m. because I was so tired. I began reading a book to get me drowsy. As soon as I felt drowsy I turned off the light but then...too late -- stressful thoughts invaded my mind and I was fully alert. Usually at this time, I turn the light back on to read some more. Instead, I kept the light out and tried meditation for about 10 minutes. I struggled through the excessive yawning to concentrate on my breathing. Next thing I knew I woke up to my alarm at 7:00 a.m. I feel great today! I highly recommend meditation for anyone who hasn't tried it.
