Valerian Root

Posted by soonerman on October 30, 2000 at 06:51:31:

I have two questions for the group. First is Valerian Root addictive? I currently take Alluna Sleep before bedtime. They claim that it is non-addictive. I've read a post on here that claims that it is addictive.
Also, my doctor prescribed Paxil for my anxiety. Are there some complications when using the 2 medications (Paxil and Valerian Root)? Does Paxil cause insominia?
I just started taking it 3 days ago and last night I got absolutely "NO" sleep. If it's the same tonight, I might stop taking it and go back to the St. John's.
For the first 30 years of my life, sleeping was almost better than sex for me. I could go to sleep with ease, sleep 6-10 hours comfortably. I could stay up late..nap...do whatever and still sleep well, until about 2 months ago. My current pattern with exception of last night was sleep 1 to 2 hours and wake be up 10 to 20 minutes or longer and then sleep another 1 to 2 hours. It really sucks after 30 years of sleeping like a baby. There's no doubt in my mind that this was all started due to stress related events at my job. My hope is that I can get it under control and get back to sleeping at least halfway normally.
