st. john's wort - has anyone had luck?

Posted by kelly on October 31, 2000 at 19:23:47:

i've just bought some SJW, a result of finally coming to terms with the fact that i may be 'depressed' and that that is what's fueling my horrible insomnia.
although i know it's been used for ages in europe,i don't really know anything about its record of success, safety or effectiveness (the MDs and pharmacists i've talked to all seem a bit clueless about the world of herbal remedies).
has anyone out there tried SJW to treat depression + insomnia? anyone with good results? how are the side
effects? and if there are any, do they interfere with sleep
even more? (that's the last thing i need).
thanks.
