Psychosis, lack of sleep and too many medications!

Posted by jasobel on November 02, 2000 at 17:49:55:

Please help me help a friend who is in desperate need of sleep. Two years ago after the birth of her son she had a post-partum psychotic episode after about 2 weeks without sleep. 2 years later, she again isn't sleeping (past 2 months) and is on several medications including efflexor, klonopin and other meds for the psychosis. She is in a new area and doesn't know the mental health resources very well. Her past psychiatrist "discharged" her and she has to wait until 11/10 for a new appt. with a new psychiatrist. What can I do for her, what can I tell her? I told her to call her old psychiatrist where she went before they relocated, what else can I tell her... she sounded pretty desperate on the phone.

Can meds interact to cause more insomina?

Thanks

New to board!

Jill
