I am new here too. This is great to see others that can empathize.. but under the circumstances :( I'm sorry for your troubles. I've had insomnia many years and one thing I have not tried (and I have tried about everything)..is hormone replacement. I would suggest you try it!
It can't hurt and there are pharmacists that are licenced (sp?) that can fill an order from a doctor with natural estrogen/progesterone (if you are interested I can find out nationally who my pharmacists are connected with).
I have quite a few side effects of meds and I already feel better (on hormone replacement). The only med that has ever worked for my sleep is elavil. It is VERY sedative however (an antidepressant). Taking my estrogen/progesterone with the elavil is proving helpful. Hopefully the estrogen/progest alone will eventually work.
