Posted by Jessie on March 11, 2001 at 14:19:17:I usually have very little trouble falling asleep but often can't stay asleep past 4 or 5 AM. Melatonin and Rexoril (I know that's probably not spelled correctly, but it's something like that) work pretty well for me, if I happen to wake up at 1 or 2 AM and can take it then. BUT, under all circumstances (i.e. drugged or not) I cannot sleep in the early morning if I can hear the slightest noise. Even noises that are so quiet I would never notice them in the daytime will wake me up in the early morning.
I've tried ear plugs and white noise machines, but somehow they don't work. I've moved to several different apartments over the last few years trying to escape noise, yet it is unrealistic to expect the entire neighborhood (including dogs and birds and airplanes and cars) to be entirely silent until 6 or 6:30am. My closets aren't big enough to sleep in or I would just lay the mattress down in there. And I have no room that does not have a window. What can I do? Has anyone every heard about any kind of - what should I say this - enclosed small structure with air holes that I can set up in my bedroom and sleep in?
Geez, I feel stupid asking about this. . . but I gotta do something. Any ideas?
Thanks!
