It's always good to get checked out by a doctor to rule out physical causes. But it helps if you can read up before going to the doctor so you know what questions to ask. Good books: "Say Goodnight to Insomnia" By Greg Jacobs, and "No More Sleepless Nights" by Peter Hauri. Also, "Desperately Seekin Snoozin" by John Wiedman was very helpful to me. It's definitely worth it to read as much as you can.
