Early waking - feeling low

Posted by Sandy Clarke on March 17, 2001 at 11:41:01:

For several weeks now I have been getting to sleep very easy, but waking up 3am - 5am, and most times it is very hard to get back to sleep. Sometimes the kids wake me up, but more often I just wake up on my own. I feel wide awake.

I have been very overworked, and often have woken up full of worries about the job, however, when I finally get up out of bed at 6.30am and get ready for work most of these problems seem quite trivial, or have solutions to hand.

Generally, I am feeling low at the moment, and am about to lose my job because of a restructuring. (but also due to my lack of ability to perform, the tiredness is a major factor here)

The other effect of this is that by 7pm in the evening I am yawning and ready to go to sleep. By 10pm I can't keep my eyes open.

I need to work long hours to cope with my workload at the moment, and I guess a vicious circle is developing in that my waking with worries is causing loss of sleep, and the loss of sleep is causing my ability to work to suffer.

I tried herbal sleep remedy from the pharmacist, but this makes no difference.

If anyone can help, I will be extremely grateful.

Sandy.
