Scott-

It isn't a question of agreeing or not agreeing. Let me try again.

All I was trying to do was to point out that no one reacts to meds the same way. Some have mild side effects, some have severe, and some have none. It is not responsible, therefore, for someone to generalize about any med and say that it is dangerous, causes lots of bad reactions, etc and to warn others to stay away.

The reverse is also true. It wouldn't be responsible for me to post wonderful things about ambien and urge others to use it simply because it works for me and because I have no negative side effects.

If you re-read my original post, you will see that I said that ambien is not meant for long term use.

These days you have simply got to be your own doctor to an extent. You need to do your own research. With the internet, it is very simple to do this and you get plenty of information. We really have no excuses not to take charge of our own bodies.

I would never take any drug for any extended period no matter what my doctor said, unless I was satisfied that doing so was appropriate.

I have occasional nights where I cannot get to sleep. On those nights it is a God-send for me to have ambien. I get a good night's sleep and wake up feeling fully refreshed and ready to go. But I would never take it the way you did.

Shame on your doctor for sure. But these days, with all of the information so readily available, you can't entirely escape responsibility for what happened.
