Ambian no loner working

First off I am a cronic Insomnic, although doctors don't believe we exist. I have been an Insomnic for 16 years (i'm 46 now) for the past 2 years Ambian has been a godsend in my life but It doesn't work any longer. I really dislike nacotics because the next day you feel as bad as if you didn't sleep. Is there another class of hypnotics that can tak up where Ambian has failed?
P.S. Please understand I have done everything anyone ever suggested about sleep.
Also, I have had thyroid problems in the past but tonight was the first I ever heard of a connection, and the reference made didn't give any details
