I have no idea of whether barbituates are made any more, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if they aren't. My mother was strung out on Nimbutal in the late 60s like you wouldn't believe. She was hospitalized for withdrawal at least once. Believe it or not, it was a cardiologist who prescibed them for her! Furthermore, she drank on top of them, and was lucky not to die as a result.

Insomnia seems to be hereditary, at least in my family.
